Cindy Rogers
I'm Cindy 👋🏼
I'm a UX/UI Designer, originally from Dublin and now based in Co. Antrim. I studied Design in Visual Communications at TU Dublin(formally DIT). It was two of my final year projects that highlighted UX design as something that resonated with me, both of which went on to win graduate IDI awards.

How I got started in UX design
I came to design through my background in music. While gigging on the Irish music scene I took on the role of managing the look and feel of the MySpace page, graphics and posters etc. This led me to explore a short course in digital design for web, from there I decided to get my degree in Visual Communications.
In my final year at college, we received a brief from Deloitte Digital 'Designing the future of health care in Ireland'. I'd previously been visiting a loved one in hospital and noticed many issues with patient handover care and so was immediately taken by the brief. The project that followed was 'Nurse Notes', an app solution for nurses to document their patient's care digitally, making handover to weekend staff more fluid. I received an reward from Deloitte Digital and the project went on the win the UX/UI category in the 2017 Graduate IDI Awards.
What I've been working on
My most recent experience has been with Aliro, a small US start-up with the tech team based in Belfast. I was the sole UX/UI person working closely with the product manager to improve the product which had previously been out sourced to a software development company and was in need of a UX/UI overhaul.
What I'm curious about
I enjoy working on projects where I get to talk to real users. Discovering how they understand things, their mental models and the barriers they may be experiencing in using a product. I believe technology must work for us and be easy to use.
